Brandywine Valley Tourism Information Center
Located across from the entrance gates to Longwood Gardens, this building, which dates from circa 1855, was Longwood Progressive Friends Meetinghouse. The meetinghouse became a beacon to reformers throughout the United States for such movements as abolition, temperance, and women’s rights. Renowned speakers and visitors included Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, Susan B. Anthony, and Sojourner Truth. It is a National Park Service Network to Freedom Site.
Please park in the first row to the right of the building, at the base of the hill. You are welcome to visit inside before or after the tour. The center is open daily 9 AM–5 PM. Explore what Chester County has to offer and speak with the friendly knowledgeable staff. Public restrooms are available.
The Kennett Underground Railroad Center (KURC) is a 501(c)(3) organization that has been approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt, charitable organization. Contributions to the KURC are tax-deductible.
